The Children’s Intensive Services (CIS) program offers a broad-based service approach which utilizes individual and family therapy, case management, psychiatric services,
medication management and emergency services.

Children’s Intensive Services is an intensive community-based treatment program for children and youth whose behavioral or emotional problems place them at risk for psychiatric hospitalization or out-of-home residential placement. The program utilizes a broad array of services for the purpose of safely maintaining the child / youth in his / her home and diverting the need for hospitalization or placement.

The program can serve children up to the age of 21. Children who may access the program possess serious behavioral or emotional problems. This may include a child who presents unsafe behavior or a child whose behavioral problems may be placing other family members at risk.

As an intensive program, the CIS program is designed to help families who are at crisis points in their lives. Services are provided according to a treatment plan customized to meet the needs of each child / family.

The amount of time a family may be involved with CIS will vary. The length of involvement is usually six months, but this time may differ depending on the specific family’s situation.
